I did read all the rules today. Its great that only 40 % is based on public votes and 60% will be from judges ... ( plus your story changed your life and that is what they are looking for)  I might start going to the gym later in the evenings~ its way too hot when I go and its not even summer yet.....So I might  run into you more....

Greg,
I saw you tonight at the gym but you were busy talking and I had to run anyway so I could get to swimming.  Everyone I talk to though thinks you are such an awesome inspiration!!  I'm not sure about what everyone is posting about regarding the competition, I kinda wondered about it from the beginning considering it was based more on popular vote than results, etc.  But whatever.  Best wishes to you and I'll say hi to ya when I see you again.

This challenge has gotten out of control!!!! I just hope that they figure out a way to make the contest more fair before next year..   I suggested only 5 entries ( profiles) per household to eliviate challengers from signing up every one they know...( and really only one vote per person should be sufficient) .I do know they are checking profiles for ligitimacy and duplicate entries.. I dont even want to participate next year and hopefully Ill reach my goal this year and wont have to worry about it.. So  in the end, you made a huge change in your life and that is all that matters...

Greg~ I don't know who this Michael Reigart is, but he is funny for saying the other 2 voted for themselves.  I pulled up his last name and there are a bunch of people with the same last name, started the challenge on the same date, and are all from the same area in Pennsylvania.  If he is a relative, sorry, you can't pick them, but tell him to chill a bit.  Looks like he did the same thing to vote.  All three of the challengers did great.  You all lost a great amount of weight.  Big changes for all.

I hate to think that I could call myself a preacher and sink this low to place vote the way the two of them did. It's a shame people can't be fair and just except the votes that others give them like you have. I hope corporate looks into this cause all you have to do is look at the ULR'S and you can see where all those vote came from. I hope there able to sleep at night stooping to the pits of hades to try to steal a competion. Well good luck and I sure hope they catch these cheaters

Hello again!  You're doing such a great job!!  I know what you mean about the burgers and snikers.  Two years ago I made a decision that I was tired of being overweight, so I decided to do something about it.  In March of 2006 I had gastric bypass surgery.  I did great after surgery.  None of the problems that the other patients seemed to have had.  After losing about 150lbs I was so happy.  Now I'm left with all this extra skin...eww!  I'm so proud of myself for doing it and if I had to do it all over again I would in a heartbeat!  I thought working out would help me to lose some more of the weight that I feel like I should lose, but it's be kind of a battle.  That's why I keep telling myself that even though the scale might now be showing me what I want, it's good that I'm keeping active and trying to stregthen my muscles.  I've been back on my diet too.  I did the low carb diet before and after my surgery and I guess the past year I kind of slipped up here and there, so I've been trying to really watch what I eat and try to make healthier choices.  Like I told Lisa before I know I look much better now than I did 2 years ago, but sometime having all this extra skin hanging around gets me down.  I don't think that they really mentally prepare you for that before surgery.  I toss around the idea of having more surgery to have the skin removed, but I'm not sure if it's something I want to do now or hold off on for a little bit.  Either way I'm proud of myself for all the hardwork I put in.  Good luck this coming week with the challenge.  Talk to ya later.

6.2 miles is a GREAT accomplishment- there are so many people who think 1 mile is alot......so keep it up- if you have to walk it or keep it slow (your joints will thank you later by the way) don't be afraid to do so....just keep moving- and the calories will burn off and more muscle will form....and you'll be an Arnold sooner that you think!

By the way, one of trainers at the gym is named Mike- so that must be a good sign.....at the gathering of Gold's trainers and all last year when Islip won all the awards- they named him and the group of trainers (the Backstreet Boys) because they unknowingly ended up wearing the same outfits more of less.....so when you workout with Mike think Mike winner and how contagious the winning feeling is- and draw off that feeling!! Hey that will work for me as well as I work out with the winning group of trainers at my home gym!!

Greg,

I was in the Army- shortly after you but....anyway....

After all you've been through- to carry on and still be alive and looking to improve yourself.....KUDOS to you! Hough!

Let's see if I can answer some questions- first VEGAN- Vegan is a lifestyle of being humane to animals- in other words, I will not eat, wear or take part in any activity that hurts animals! I feel strongly on this issue but because I do not want anyone to tell me what to do or how to eat- I can inform but will not push others to go vegan...oh, vegan is no meat/ dairy, etc....whereas vegetarian is no meat- or no dairy- there are different levels of vegetarianism.....You can do a search online about that for more info! (By the way, it was fairly easy to be vegetarian in the Army unless your NCO didn't believe you and unless he watches everything you eat- it's hard to prove to him your vegetarian- to get separate rations).....Oh, and the Vegetarian MRE's were always the first to go- if you weren't first in line- I had to do without- and eat the crackers/ pb, jelly, etc.....in the army I did eat dairy though!

Ph- just like you measure it in the pool- kinda- but they have Ph paper....to measure the Alkalinity vs. the acidity in your system which has alot to do with how things are broken down and digested.....

As far as the marathon goes remember you can walk the marathon- well not Boston unless your a speed walker- but NYC, people are finishing in 6-7 or more hours.....and there is nothing wrong with that....it's all about crossing that FINISH LINE and accomplishing something that you never thought you would before that second- although HOPED you would!! The crowds throughout the route were inspiring....when not shooting I was high fiving everyone.....There were people who were blind, on crutches, in wheelchairs (both regular and sport wheelchairs)......Old, young, from every country...it was goose bumps all the way and afterwards too.....

My Dad has changed his diet around, he has diabetes and needs to watch things and develop a workout routine......he has given up red meat and all....he is watching things and sshhh...I'm proud of that.....the doctors are after him as well- kinda scares me but if I keep talking about what I'm doing things rub off sooner or later.....

What else......can't remember what else you asked.....
I'll write more later....

Keep it up....
Damn if I lost 44 lbs I would be in the bodyfat %'age that I want to be at- actually I'd want to gain a bit to be there....YOUR MY INSPIRATION THIS WEEK!!
Sorry, I chose someone each week and YOUR IT!!

You have a really amazing story. I'm glad you have been able to beat these problems and take care of youself. My father was told about a month ago that he is on the edge of becoming a diabetic, it isn't bad enough to require meds or anything yet, but if he doesn't improve it could go there. He gets real bent out of shape about it because he thinks that I'm going to get it because I feel bad all the time and when I eat too much sugar I feel terrible, he blames hisself and thinks that I am going to struggle with my weight for the rest of my life because of him and his side of the family. I love him to death and I want him to stick around as long as possible, so I may share you story to try and motivate him to do better.  I hope everything is going good for you, good luck in finishing the rest of your goals and staying on track!

Hmm good question. I usually use either the person's first or last name and never both when I search. It usually has issues locating people when you use both. Odd I know. Thank you for your concern. I am feeling much better today, but there was a while I wondered if I would make it in to work. Ok well. You continue to do well and even though you had to overcome your own desire to stay put you stillmade it to the gym to run 5.5 miles so way to go!

I'm glad your feeling better. Diabetes runs in my family and that was one of the reasons I started going to the gym. I feel a lot better and have lost  38lbs  since  Nov. 15,2007.  I was surprised to find that I weighed 278lbs. (thought I weighed no more than 250lbs.) Obesity runs in my family also and I had an uncle that was over 300lbs for most of his life and he passed away before he reached 60. Keep up the good work.

Greg,

Thanks for your kind words of encouragement! You are so thoughtful! Best of luck to you with your goals as well. My mother is diabetic, so I understand the hardships that can come with it. You sound like you have a great group of motivators at your gym = ) I am also a group fitness instructor for Gold's and I know the importance of surrounding yourself with those who share the same fitness goals and ideals. Keep your head in the game and just remember that the challenge is a marathon and not a sprint. Keep me posted on your progress!!

Best Wishes from Texas,
Kristine

That is a very great message in your blog. It is a wake up call that weight and eating do more than just cause unsightly and uncomfortable weight and that we should take the time to take care of ourselves. I am glad to read that it is under control and that you are taking all nec steps to ensure your health. You are doing great!
